The 44th annual event Juno Awards rewarded Calgary singer Kiesza with three trophies over the weekend. Having already two Juno awards, one for the best dance recording of the year (Sound of a woman) and one for the best video of the year(Hideway), her third prize definitely catapulted her to worldwide success.
She doesn't fit in the arrogant artiste's group since she showed support to 16 year old fellow nominee Shawn Mendes, testifying him as a deserving winner and also calling him "such a sweetheart". Even though she was trembling with emotion, somehow, while accepting the trophy Kiesza managed to calm down and become less nervous. She thanked to her fans and with sparkles in her eyes she talked about the craziness of the situation seen through her perspective; "it hasn't been a full year yet". Besides Keisza, Magic definitely made their presence felt at the event, winning the awards for the best breakthrough group of the year and best single of the year. His reggae-redolent smash "Rude", presenting the love story between two lovers who want to run away together and the “rude”ness of the father’s bride who wouldn’t give his permission, became one of the best hits in recent history, having its creator amazed by the success it had in Canada.
We really didn't think that Rude would become a big hit around the world and we're very thankful that it's a hit in our own country, in Canada,". Many artists like Magic, Mendes, Morrisette and Max Kerman offered a great presence but the jewerly of the crown was definitely Keisza."
